Modern Jewish art, controversial topic.
Chances are you're in one of two camps, the lovers or the haters. There are very few of us that sit on the fence about this hot-button issue.
You're either like us, and absolutely love modern art, especially Jewish modern art. You've been the brunt of endless ridicule from your plebeian friends who can't understand your passion for the subtle beauty of a red square.
Alternatively, you are one of those plebeians. If that's the case, we love you, we pray for you, and we wait patiently for the day you'll see the light.
All jokes aside, why do we love modern art?
Why don't we prefer a realistic rendition of reality?
The truth is, we love both.
There's space in the Jewish art world for beautiful renditions of the kotel at dawn, and there's space for a mass of brilliant colors that don't have an objective meaning, but inspire a beautiful array of emotions in the viewer.
And when all is said and done, your home should be filled with Judaic art (or any art) that sparks joy for you. Whatever that is. As the great Confucious once said - "You do you bro."
